Privacy policy

Last updated

This policy explains what personal data I collect when you use this website, why I collect it, and the choices and rights you have. I've kept it short and in plain English.

Who I am

This website is run by Muhammad Moiz, an independent software developer based in Karachi, Pakistan. I'm responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach me about anything in this policy at muhammadmoiz269@gmail.com.

What I collect

Information you give me

  • Enquiries. When you use the contact form or email me, I receive your name, email address and anything you choose to tell me about your project, such as your company or website, the type of work, your budget range, when you'd like to start, a link to your app and how you heard about me. The form also adds your device's time zone (for example "Europe/London") so I can suggest a call time that suits you.
  • Calls. When we arrange a call by email, I keep the time we agreed and any notes from the call.
  • Client work. If we work together, I'll also hold the information needed to run the project and get paid, such as invoices and project communication.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs. Like almost every website, my hosting provider records basic technical data when you visit: your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time. This is used to keep the site running and secure, and is kept only for a short period.

  • Preferences on your device. If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it. It never leaves your device, and I can't see it.

  • Visit statistics. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views (the page, the referring site, your country and device type) so I can see which pages are useful. It doesn't use cookies, and it doesn't store your IP address or anything that identifies you.

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and I don't sell or share your data for marketing. If I ever add tools that need cookies, I'll ask for your consent first and update this page.

How I use your data, and why

  • To reply to you and discuss your project. This is the step before we might enter into a contract, at your request.
  • To deliver work and send invoices if you become a client. This is needed to perform our contract and meet accounting obligations.
  • To keep the website secure and working (server logs and spam protection). This is my legitimate interest in protecting the site and the people who use it.

I won't send you marketing emails unless you've asked to receive them.

Services I use

I use a small number of trusted providers to run this website and my business. They only process your data to provide their service to me:

  • Vercel: website hosting, server logs and cookieless visit statistics
  • Resend: delivering contact-form messages to my inbox
  • Cloudflare Turnstile: telling real visitors apart from spam bots on forms
  • Google (Gmail): my email inbox
  • YouTube: videos load only when you press play, in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode

Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States and other countries. Where data is transferred internationally, they rely on recognised safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long I keep it

  • Enquiries that don't lead to work: up to 2 years, then deleted.
  • Client records: for the length of our work together, then as long as tax and accounting rules require.
  • Server logs: kept for a short period by the hosting provider, according to their retention policy.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example in the UK, the EU or California), you have the right to:

  • see the personal data I hold about you
  • correct it if it's wrong
  • have it deleted
  • object to or restrict how I use it
  • receive a copy in a portable format
  • withdraw consent at any time, where I rely on consent

To use any of these rights, email me. I'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can also complain to your local data protection authority, such as the ICO in the UK.

Children

This website is aimed at businesses and isn't intended for children under 16. I don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I handle personal data, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
